Fully composited shots from the short film I’m currently working on. Should all be online with a write up in a couple of weeks!
This was done using 3D tracking, Cinema4D and a whole load of compositing tricks.
Playing around with textures the other day using a more Photoshop based workflow. Would really like to do an animation but at 25mins per frame I might have to optimise a little!
RED Epic 300 fps Skateboarding
Nice work
Inheritance Effector
Heres a quick render from some of the tests I’ve recently been doing with MoGraph and the inheritance effector. Some interesting results!
Folding Polygons
This kind of folding effect works pretty well, looking at animating with MoGraph in the near future.
Looking into what different objects I can build using mograph and effective ways to animate them.
I got a bit carried away with the lighting and texturing once I’d finished… nice effect though!

Spline Wraps
Looking into spline wraps today - needing to create animated wires for a project I’m working on.
Though the texture palette is simply for testing purposes!
Also used this tutorial just to get me started and rejog my memory on tracer objects and spline wraps.

Might have to look into different options though, this is pretty heavy on the GPU.
I can make shiny balls.
Been playing around in Cinema4D the past few days trying to come up with a few quick spots for my new Reel.
With more to follow.
New Website + Reel
Its pretty overdue and I hate not having my work online… So I’ve finally built my new site, just need to fill it with content then we’re away. Also I’ve been cutting together a new Reel for 2012.
Hopefully in the next month.
Muay Thai Lions
Recently since being back in Huddersfield I’ve taken up Thai Boxing. We visited Birmingham for an interclub so I took down a Canon 5D and took some footage.
I had no tripod so some of the footage can be a bit “ham sandwichy” but overall its not bad for a couple hours work (including editing/post). Just unfortunate that I couldn’t get any closer or any other angles! I think a longer lens with a tripod or at least monopod should work better next time.
Maybe more to come in the future.
Dimension2 goes LIVE!
Independent Film Production company.
Well this is the main reason I’ve neglected my blog recently. I’ve been real busy setting up D2 and designing the website. I can now happily say we’ve gone into full operation!
Using CargoCollective to house the site, me and Joe Wheatley customized, pulled and developed 1600 lines of code for this.
I went through many stages of logo designs and a few different site designs, including some colour palettes. Though overall I think the use of grey lends itself better to the style of work.
I currently freelance at D2 as Post-Production / Art Direction.
Check us out.
Maverick | Project X
A little something Dimension2 kicked out this week! I didn’t work on this piece, but the guys I work with did. Though we are hoping to do another edit over Christmas where I’ll be providing some art direction and some nice visuals.
And yes our website still isn’t finished, but will be soon!
Pear!
Decided to play around with Sub Surface Scattering in Cinema4D today. Was thinking of a quick easy object to model for the test so decided to do a pear, despite not liking pears.
Came out pretty well and only took an hour to render. A mix of texturing techniques here, also I’m pretty happy with how the leaf turned out.

Currently working on a couple short films and a website/reel to come soon.
Rocks
Well following on from the plastic trees I set out to try make some rocks to go along with the scene.
However it didn’t really turn out with the same style! Though some interesting geometry.
Plastic Trees V2
So a while back I made these trees for a pitch, then decided to play around with textures when I was learning Cinema4D. Well with the release of Cinema4D R13 I haven’t really had chance to make anything new so I thought I’d put these through the new physical render engine and check out the results.
Playing around with depth of field and a few settings I really like the new physical engine!
And on a side note, the main man Nick Campbell gives a nice run down on the new depth of field within R13.
